Mt. Ridge Latte

Beth's original Alainn broodmare.

This is Mt. Ridge Latte, or simply Latte. She is sired by Wedderlie Mardi Gras. Wedderlie Mardi Gras (Eyarth Beau Geste x Wedderlie Marianne) is one of the most prolific Section B stallions in the US. His most famous son, Clanfair Signature, is the most decorated pony in WPCSA history, winning his Order of the Dragon award in record-breaking time. Latte is from Mardi Gras's first foal crop, and is actually his oldest daughter by a month. Mardi Gras himself was born in 2001 (imported to the USA as a yearling in 2002) and Latte was foaled on February 28, 2005.

Her mother is Millcroft Java (Millcroft Royal Lustre x Millcroft Sparkling Occasion). Java had five babies, but Latte is the only one sired by Mardi Gras. The Welsh Pony & Cob Society of America shows no other Millcroft ponies who have produced offspring.

The Bloodlines

I do not have Latte's complete history; but she was shown in Halter and Riding classes as a four-year-old. She even won Grand Champion Section B a few times. She found her way a few years later to Clanfair Welsh Ponies, which is where I made contact with her. At the time I first inquired, she was supposed to be in foal to Mynach Master Class. As it turned out, she wasn't, but the timing of my purchase was such Gretchen offered to breed her for me, and then I could pick her up after we confirmed she was in foal.

So we did just that! After Latte was bred, we waited until she was 30 days along before I went to get her. That was in 2016. Latte was 11, I was 16, and she was pregnant with her first foal.

How did she get to me?

Latte's first baby was Alainn Lomhara (Beautiful Precious), a beautiful bay filly born on March 22, 2017, at 342 days gestation. This is the baby Latte was pregnant with when I brought her home.

Mara all grown up. She resides with a family in Atlanta, GA.

After Mara, I bred Latte to Glenhaven Amadeus. The resulting foal is Alainn Athas Deora (Beautiful Happy Tears). She was born on April 6, 2018 at only 322 days gestation. Click here and read her page for her whole story, but suffice to say she is a 13 hand cremello firecracker. She is the hottest Welsh Pony I've met and superbly athletic.

Baby number three for Latte was sired by Gayfields Bling! Bling!. Alainn Coroin Eowyn was Latte's first palomino baby, born on April 18, 2020 at 340 days gestation.

Eowyn was gifted to Laura and Sarah.

Foal number three was sired by Hidalgo El Oro Reale (Flynn Rider). Flynn was only used as a stud for one season before being gelded. Alainn Milis Oir (Beautiful Sweet Gold) looks so similar to Eowyn, it was eerie! Milly was born on April 14, 2021 at 331 days. She left at seven months old to her current home in Michigan. This was my first time selling a baby, but it went super smoothly!

On April 12, 2022, at 327 days gestation, Latte's first buckskin was born. This is Alainn Caife Na Farraige (Beautiful Coffee from the Ocean). "Java" was sired by Lemontree Sea Star, his first filly for me. I was very torn about the decision but ultimately sold her to a breeder in Washington State. She shared the trip with her half-sister, Fiona.

Latte's number six is Alainn Taifi, aka Taffy. Taffy is Java's full sibling and was instantly sold. Taffy is a stunning addition to Latte's line-up of fillies and brought Latte up to a 50% palomino rate.

Latte is a phenomenal producer and a super talented riding pony. She is simply the Queen Cappuccino.
